First of all I abjure, conjure and invoke you to go out and buy the Feb/March issue (issue 17) of the magazine Death Ray, for therein I have an article. Look at me the serious journalist.

So: the Adrian Tchaikovsky world tour 2009 part 1(1) commences shortly. Please come along if you're in the area. I'll be signing book 1, the new book 2 and, if someone gets me drunk enough, quite possibly copies of Tolkien and Jeffrey Archer (2).

Tour dates are:

Saturday 7th February — 3.30pm — Waterstone's Reading
United Reform Building, 89a Broad Street, Reading RG1 2AP

Saturday 14th February — 1.30pm — Garforth Bookshop
15 Main Street, Garforth, Leeds, LS25 1DS

Saturday 28th February — 1pm — Travelling Man games shop
32 Central Road, Leeds, LS1 6DE

Bring your friends, bring your enemies, bring generous-minded literary critics!

To pay off my karmic debt for all this navel-gazing I also note that Frances Hardinge's new book, Gullstruck Island is out. I've previously waxed rhapsodic about her Fly-by-Night, and I look forward to getting to grips with this one. Also, the cover's all over beetles, which is always a Good Thing.

(1) Part 2 should be in August for Blood of the Mantis

(2) By which I mean books written by, not some weird cloning shenanigans.
