I still remember that experience with bowel loosing terror.

Those 3 waves coming the hill.
THe first: everyone glancing then chatting and not worried.
THe second: people adjusting armour, quieting and getting ready.
THe third: ( as the first got ready to assault) the anxiety, the looks to either side and the fear.

absolutely sensational.

That was a beautiful day.

But the part of the Blood Queen campaign I remember most intensely is almost a year later, in the first mission to the Soul Prison, standing among a corps of maybe one quarter the size we took to the field, certain all our friends were dead, surrounded on three sides and fenced in on the fourth, and preparing to go down fighting.

It was only when the other three-quarters of our force came in and hit one of those attacking forces from the back that we realised we weren't alone. But for a good while there, we thought we were seeing the death of our nation.

Thank you for that glorious description Adrian.
I was stood in front of the battle line that day, knee deep in the red tide. Brings it all back wonderfully!

Larp is a little like the Territorial Army, in that for several days we go away and live another life. The Humdrum of day to day lost. No recession, no mortgage, no job beyond the task of our character or the call of the game.
4 days becomes 4 weeks.

"Female of the species clearly more deadly than the male?"

I seem to recall a red-headed female of your acquaintance who was remarkably good with sword & dagger - tho' of course it's been a while since Reading's swordfighters got together of a sunday . . . Whatever happened to her, I wonder?

All right, you've bludgeoned me into it with your cursed being-right-ness. The aforementioned author is now aggressively neuter throughout, so I'm covering all bases.

I don't know, I've been reliably informed by Rumours On The Internets that all us girls are good for is wearing ballgowns and healing the wounded.
