(2) Not Antlions, although that's actually a really nice idea. You find out more about the heart of the Nem, and its nastiness, in Heirs of the Blade. Complicated is the right word... And since this is the only place the mentions Khanaphes just wanted to ask a few quick questions, there are mounds of earth which alethi ants protects reverently.
