Tentacles of Evil!
My nefarious influence is slowly spreading throughout the net! (1)
Patrick from Fantasy Hotlist has an interview here (2) which I encourage all right thinking party members to go see.
Meanwhile, James at Speculative Horizons has picked up on some peculiarities with the cover of book 2 here — and he's right. The cover that he posts is the actual one we're using, but… there was… another… Alas that I cannot tell you the battles, the life-or-death struggles, the great leviathans locked in mortal broil, armies marching under perilous banners and the grim scything down of the flower of chivalry (3) that determined which image should prevail. Alas, it's a Magic Circle kind of thing. I'm sworn, of course, to secrecy. These world-shattering decisions must needs go unreported, for the sake of the sanity of the world and the fabric of reality. However, the diligent hunter may yet track down the old image here (4) unless it's been amended by the time you get to it (we're all for Stalinist revisionism here).
UPDATE: I have more tentacles than I knew. Speculative Horizons has followed up with an interview here (5), and Graeme's Fantasy Book Review has posted a very pleasant review here.
UPDATE the second. On the topic of book covers, I see that Mr Long has a running series of crap fantasy book covers which is well worth a laugh.
(1) Or, being more arthropod-themed, the web. Web or net? Which are the cool dudes using at the moment? Lord, but I'd hate to be unfashionable.
(2) This is a feature of the WordPress business that makes this site work. It was probably doable with Livejournal, where the blog was formerly hosted before the official site came up, but lord knows I had no idea to go about it, so I had to post the url. Now I can just say here and there you go, like magic! Hey presto!
(3) or publishing.
(4) This linking business is almost as addictive as footnoting.
(5) I got tremendously excited when the site mailed me to tell me that I had a new ping. After a while trying to remember whether this was a good thing, and what it actually meant, I recalled it indicated that SotA.com had been linked to by another site. Great enthusiasm! Who's linked to me? A site that seems strangely familiar, somehow. See (2) above.
The original cover for Dragonfly just gets worse each time I look at it…really is pretty poor. The new one is so much better. You dodged a bullet there. Or maybe a hail of bullets. 😉
