In Salute the Dark, why did the Kessen sign a non-agression pact with the wasps? Were they really so naïve that they didn't believe the wasps would turn up to corncob them after they'd conquered the rest of the Lowlands?
The short answer is yes. Being a fortified island state, and with the typical Ant-kinden belief in their own military strength, they reckoned that the Wasps wouldn't commit the considerable resources required to conquering them.
