Well, the weapon she has, doesn`t looks like something dangerous, made 500 years ago by mantis craftman.
Reply @ Lucas: ah, because it isn't that weapon. The brief to Tula was for Tynisa right at the start of book 1 β that's either the rapier she uses up until about halfway through the book, or possibly even a practice piece used in the Prowesse Forum. This is also why she's not being portrayed as lethal killing machine. Although, at least in the first few books, she *doesn't* look like a lethal killing machine. A lot of people underestimate her because of that. Female character doesn't have to look like Sigourney Weaver circa Aliens in order to be dangerous.
Reply@Author true but something is missing i just finished the first book (also made some fan art lol) and the way imagined her was long dark hair and more detailed clothes. Also she looks a little tired, mines make her "feel" like she is highly skilled, not dangerous, but looks like she knows how to use the weapon she is holding
p.s. one of the best book ever written just got the second one
Excellent art, would love to see more on many other characters especially Stenwold and Tisamon. Keep up the excellent writing Adrian. I'm 3/4 through book two and im hooked π .
P.S What are u short term plans for this series? Are there going to be more than 5 books ?
Book 6, "The Sea Watch" is coming out in February in the UK, and we've sorted a contract for books 7β9. Book 7 has, in fact, just gained a title, "Heirs of the Blade". Book 8 will be "The Air War". There will probably be 10 books in the series.
Thanks Adrian for the quick replay and i am overjoyed to hear of a possible 10 books series.
10 of them!. best christmas gift ever. just finished the third, the public library where i live has the fourth aswell but its been borrowed for a few months, heh guess the person really loves it!
your boos are so good 3/4 of the way through sea watch and carnt wait for the nxt one.well done best av read for a long time
May i make some portraits too?
Or do i need copyrights on paper π
Yes, yes you can. All art gladly received. (This is another reason to get a forum up and running β I'm working on it). It you wanted to email something to theinsectman (at) gmail (dot) com I'd be happy to receive it.
Oh my stars, ten books! Am nearly halfway through Sea Watch, was trying to pace myself so I wouldn't have to wait too long between books but it's not really possible, is it?
Love this Tynisa, beautiful drawing!
About to order the Heir! Only just found out that there will be 10 of the seriesβ¦cant wait for the films!!!
wonderful!!!!
Excellent piece of art- beautiful, graceful and carrying that ancient greek theme that runs through the series π
Personally, when reading the books (currently in the middle of Dragonfly Falling)- which feel like a breeze of fresh air in the fantasy genre, currently crowded with crappy d&d style stories or "gritty" ASOIAF ripoffs. well done Mr. Tchaikovsky!:)- I have the image of Kristen Stewart (in a more athletic/fighting version, like in the Snowhite and the Huntsman trailer) as Tynisa, along with Daniel Craig as Tisamon. He looks quite intimidating, and I think that they share the same look/gaze, like a father and his daughter should. In Craig's eyes it's ice cold steel, in Stewart's it's otherworldly/ mesmerising π
Thank you very much. Interestingly, Daniel Craig was also on my Tisamon shortlist.
If Craig's image was in your "template" and I thought of him as Tisamon too, this means that you did an excellent job in fleshing out the character as you had him in mind, then π Congratulations again!
Btw, I'd like to ask: the artwork in the book covers is stunning. Is there any way I could find it somewhere in hi-res (wallpaper-like)?
Doesn't look much like a woman who live & love fighting
