The Insect of the Tragic Amours
So said Jean-Henri Fabre when describing the praying mantis, and Tisamon is no exception.
So it's Mantis month this month, and you can find David's artwork here and the Mantis story, The Prince, here.
The flagship Mantis-kinden in Empire in Black and Gold is Tisamon, of course, but he's not exactly a typical Mantis for a number of reasons. However, the fact that he's Stenwold's loyal friend throws a lot of his less creditable characteristics into shadow. So, in The Prince, I give you a very different sort of Mantis-kinden altogether, and perhaps one who better represents the breed.
Heya
Really nice idea to be putting up the short stories. I love to explore worlds and it is more often than not the side stories, the facts mentioned in passing and those that are merely hinted at that give the world real flavour.
Heh … it'll also serve to keep the story fresh while waiting for the next book.
